My name is Sarah, and I am a registered Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) and the owner of Scenic Route Psychology. At the heart of my approach are the healing powers of connection and compassion; it is in the presence of connection that true healing can begin. As a therapist, I believe it's my job to help you tap into your inner strength and sense of self. I do not believe in a 'one size fits all' approach, and instead integrate various evidence-based approaches into my sessions, here are some of my areas of specialization:

  • Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR Therapy)

  • The Gottman Method for Relationship Counselling

  • Specialist in Anxiety, Burnout, and Chronic Overwhelm

Meet the Therapist

I am also an animal lover (specifically my dog, Goose), an avid reader and while I do enjoy connecting with nature, I'm a homebody at heart.  I know first-hand how difficult it can be to reach out and share your story with a stranger. As someone who struggles with anxiety myself, my goal is that you feel safe, comfortable, heard, and relaxed in my office. If it sounds like we'd be a good fit, reach out today to book a free consultation or first session.

2SLGBTQIA+ Affirming

Neurodiversity Informed

Scenic Route Psychology is proudly affiliated with Skipping Stone through the Trans Inclusive Network. We are committed to creating a safe, affirming, and inclusive space for 2SLGBTQIA+ clients. This means we understand and respect the diversity and fluidity of gender and sexuality. We also embrace diversity in relationships, including dynamics such as polyamory and ethical non-monogamy. My practice is inclusive, affirming, sex-positive, and committed to providing a safe and supportive space for all individuals and couples, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or relationship structure.

I have a wealth of professional and interpersonal experience working with individuals who are neurodiverse as a neurodivergent counsellor. I am committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive space committed to supporting individual sensory needs.

Trauma Informed

I practice trauma-informed counseling, recognizing the impact of past experiences on one's mental and emotional well-being. I prioritize safety, trust, and empowerment, fostering an environment where clients can explore their feelings and experiences at their own pace, with sensitivity and care. This means that you have full control over your therapeutic experience and are always welcome to opt out of specific questions and areas of exploration.

Low-Barrier Therapy

Our fee structure is in alignment with the CCPA's standards. In addition, we offer sliding scale fees for clients who require lower fees and will never require proof of income. Simply mention that you are interested in sliding scale fees during our consultation or first session. Scenic Route Psychology is also conveniently located within walking distance to the train line.
