2SLGBTQIA+ Affirming

Scenic Route Psychology is proudly affiliated with Skipping Stone through the Trans Inclusive Network. We are committed to creating a safe, affirming, and inclusive space for 2SLGBTQIA+ clients. This means we understand and respect the diversity and fluidity of gender and sexuality. We also embrace diversity in relationships, including dynamics such as polyamory and ethical non-monogamy. My practice is inclusive, affirming, sex-positive, and committed to providing a safe and supportive space for all individuals and couples, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or relationship structure.

CLINICAL VALUES

It's important that you feel safe and comfortable with your therapist. Here are just a few values that we stand by.

Neurodiversity Friendly & Informed

I have a wealth of professional and interpersonal experience working with individuals who are neurodiverse, as a neurodivergent counsellor. I am committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive space committed to supporting indvidual needs. Recognizing that sensory sensitivities vary widely among individuals, I've designed my practice with careful consideration. Dim lighting, soft textures, and minimal scents ensure a comfortable atmosphere for those who may be sensitive to sensory stimuli. Whether it's through written communication, creative expression, or other non-verbal means, I also strive to accommodate diverse communication preferences.

Trauma Informed Practice

I practice trauma-informed counseling, recognizing the impact of past experiences on one's mental and emotional well-being. I prioritize safety, trust, and empowerment, fostering an environment where clients can explore their feelings and experiences at their own pace, with sensitivity and care. This means that you have full control over your therapeutic experience and are always welcome to opt out of specific questions and areas of exploration.

Accessible Low-Barrier Therapy

Low-barrier therapy is integral to our community wellbeing. This is why I offer sliding scale fees and will never ask for proof of income. We are also conveniently located close to the train line in Crowfoot. In alignment with my practice's commitment to inclusivity, I've also ensured that the physical space is fully accessible to individuals of all abilities. Our practice is wheelchair accessible Moreover, recognizing the importance of fostering a body-neutral environment, my practice embraces the principles of Health at Every Size (HAES).

Our Philosophy

Scenic Route Psychology derives its name from the belief that life, often a fast-paced and challenging journey, becomes richer when we embrace moments of reflection, self-discovery, and healing. It is in the moments that we are able to slow down that life becomes meaningful.

Living in a society that demands constant speed, efficiency, growth, and results can quickly leave us feeling disconnected from our values, community, and ourselves. We may find ourselves running on autopilot or spending a lot of time in our own minds. We may feel exhausted, burnt out, or overwhelmed by our mental health symptoms. This is why we emphasize the value of taking a step back to slow things down.

Our goal is to create a space where this slowing down happens. A space where you feel free from the usual hustle and bustle of your mind or the world around you. Not to avoid these important parts of life, but to but to take a step back to make them feel less overwhelming and all-encompassing. At Scenic Route Psychology, we believe that true growth, healing, and joy stem from these moments of stillness and reflection.
